Our mission.

To provide nutritionally-balanced, home-delivered meals to homebound elderly and disabled citizens to reduce institutionalization.

Who we are

Meals on Wheels Lewes–Rehoboth is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1976 and supported in large part by the Delaware Division of Aging. As the first Meals on Wheels program in the State of Delaware, the organization delivered 16,609 meals to homebound individuals in its first year alone. By the end of the 1970s, annual meal distribution had grown to more than 20,000 meals across the Lewes and Rehoboth communities. Today, Meals on Wheels Lewes–Rehoboth delivers over 95,000 meals annually, reflecting decades of sustained growth and community impact.

We currently serve more than 300 homebound clients throughout the Lewes and Rehoboth areas, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers and staff. Our program continues to grow at an average rate of approximately 5% each year, driven by strong community outreach efforts and a reliable, sustainable service delivery model that ensures no neighbor in need is overlooked.

More than just a meal.

With over 190 dedicated volunteers, Meals on Wheels Lewes–Rehoboth delivers more than nourishment—we deliver connection. Volunteers cover 19 delivery routes each day, ensuring that clients receive a hot meal every morning. Equally important, these daily visits provide vital social interaction, offering friendship, compassion, and a sense of connection that supports the emotional well-being of those we serve.
